20 Best Natural Beauty Care Recipes

20 Best Natural Beauty Recipes

It’s no secret that what we put on our bodies is as equally important as what we put in our bodies. A few weeks ago, I let you snoop in my makeup bag and shared my favourite natural, non-toxic makeup essentials. Today, I want to share some of my favourite natural beauty care recipes for those of you who love to kick it from scratch like I do.

There are a treasure trove of natural beauty care products that you can whip up yourself using simple ingredients in your kitchen and pantry. Once you get on the homemade beauty train, it’s really hard to stop (or spend the cash on things you can easily make at home!). I love crafting these up and even devoted an entire chapter of The UnDiet Cookbook to edible beauty recipes. We cook up potions for our insides, we should also spend some time cooking up lotions and potions for our outside, too!

The natural beauty care recipes I highlight below use ingredients you likely already have in your home – coconut oil, lemon, organic sugar, citrus and oils. I am very excited to share these gems with you. Here are some simple edible, natural beauty care recipes for you to help you get started.

  1. Uh, awesome recipes! :D Thank you!

I’m currently on the path of ditching shampoo completely – and my hair is SO amazingly more beautiful!

A very, VERY simple recipe you can use as shampoo:
3 – 4 tbsp. of rye flour (not wheat!!)
1 tbsp. spoon cinnamon (for the smell, can be )
Mix with warm water until you have a jellylike texture, not unlike shampoo. Massage into your scalp and leave in for a few minutes (while washing the rest of your body e.g. ;) ), then rinse. You can use a sour rinse (1tsp. cider vinegar or lemon juice to 1l cold(!) water, just rinse your hair after washing – but no warm water afterwards) afterwards but you don’t need to, as the pH of the rye shampoo is essentially the same as your hair.

It’s so fluffy, shiny and smooth afterwards!

You can also use flour or healing earth as dry shampoo. I also mix it with cinnamon for the smell (or put in dry lavender flowers or what you like). Just apply with a big powder brush and brush it out – no longer greasy hair without the need for showering or shampoo. For dark hair I’d take defatted cocoa powder or the aforementioned healing earth, as the flour could leave a greyish colour otherwise.

And then: have fun with your beautiful hair! :D

  2. The homemade foundation powder is a great idea. I especially love all these recipes are cruelty free. I love animals.

  3. These home made beauty recipes are excellent. Thank you.
Can you recommend any natural/homemade eye make up remover?
