One Pot Wonders with Marilene Caetano
Are you always on the look out for quick, make-ahead, delicious meals that are super nutritious too? Then come on over to the Love in the Kitchen headquarters to learn some new techniques and recipe ideas for the easiest meal around: One Pot Wonders. The convenience of cooking something in one pot and eating out of one bowl is too hard to resist. In this class you will learn about cooking soups and stews and how you can easily pack in veggies, beans, whole grains, good fats and sneak in super foods.
In this 2 hour cooking demonstration, Marilene will show you how easy it is to super power your soups and stews, go over flavour combinations, demonstrate a 15 minute curry and introduce you to cold, raw soups! She will review the health benefits of the veggies, spices and superfoods that she uses. Some more things you will learn in this 2 hour demonstration:
- tips on meal planning and helpful shortcuts to making soups, stews, curries and chili
- how to make really good, flavourful, nutritious vegetarian stock
- how to modify your favourite one pot recipes into healthier options
- how to make creamy soups without using dairy
- ways to super power your one pot meals using superfoods
- how to turn a one pot dish into a whole meal: we'll go over the best sides to serve alongside your one pot wonders
There will be samples of all the soups created along with some delicious side dishes like veggies and dips, and even a one bowl dessert. You will also receive handouts with recipes, meal plans, flavour combinations and other useful tips for making your own one-pot wonderfulness at home. Marilene Caetano is a Registered Nurse working in cancer care at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. Her passion for health extends from her hospital work into the kitchen where she really does believe food is medicine.
