Super Executive Assistant

(This is a paid position)
We're in some serious need of help around the kitchen- little things and big things, but mostly things to help keep Meghan organized.
This is a part-time paid position and preference is given to someone who lives in Canada and can be available during our regular office hours of 9-5 EST. We would love you to bits if you love your Mac as much as we love ours around here and this is also helpful when it comes to getting documents together without having to deal with formatting issues. We need some who is a self-starter, quick on their toes, LOVES being connected, great at helping people out, great at working indepedently, LOVES making people happy, and is comitted to lending a hand for the long-term with us. With the right applicant, there is absolutely the opportunity for this to turn into a full time role come the fall. We are looking for someone who wants to work with us long term. This is NOT a positon that involves cooking, recipe creation or that kind of jazz. Also- if you're still trying to find your "thing", this is likely not the right spot for you.
Please note that this is the ONLY position we are currently looking to fill. If you're real desire is to teach your own classes here or other such fun things, this is likely not the right fit for you.

- You’re a-okay working virtually, with high speed internet, and can kick it on all our fave communications tools including email, skype and phone.
- You work on a Mac and are skilled at working with Mac mail, gmail, microsoft office (word, excel, and powerpoint), iWork would be an added bonus (pages, numbers and keynote), as well as iLife (iphoto, imovie) or some other photo management/editing tools.
- You have experience with spreadsheets in excel.
- You're great at working with technology.

- You have a sweet little interest in online marketing and current trends- maybe even follow a few emarketing gurus.

Full Time Training/Learning/Playing/Cooking Program
(This is an unpaid position) These positions have been filled. The next round for internships will be August-December 2012.
Apprentice Description
We are currently looking to fill two distinctly different roles here in the kitchen.
For all tasks listed below- these are not be considered the full and total responsibility of the apprentice, but will give an idea of what may be involved.
We expect that you are familiar with Meghan Telpner, her philosophy on food and health and the work that she does.
Internship Position 1: Administrative/Office Management/Research/Writing/Customer Service Assistant:
This position, has the potential to be or develop into a part-time paid position through the summer and full time position beginning in August. We are looking for someone who could potentially become a full time team member. If you are looking for a side job, or temporary gig so you can start your own thing- I commend you highly- but also note that this is probably not the right spot for you.
- You have experience in customer support and understand and pick up technology basics quickly.
- You work on a MAC, and LOVE to bits being on the computer.
- Excited about the idea of helping or leading the way on General Health Research, website updates , office management including filing, invoicing, supplier payments, General editing of blog posts, newsletters, recipes etc. assisting with incoming Q and A email
- You embrace technology and love learning about new and awesome ways to use it.
- You love to write about nutrition- and are comfortable enough with your nutrition knowledge to do so simply and easily.
- Comfortable with processing transactions/credit cards etc.
- Spread sheets and keeping organized get you revved up and excited.
- You're honest, friendly, outgoing, health focussed (no bacon for lunch in our kitchen), hard working, trustworthy, passionate, always go above and beyond.
- Super organized, and can manage mutliple projects at one time in a timely manner.
- You are a great problem solver and aren't prone to melt downs when things get a little challenging.
- Not too self important to help with kitchen clean-up tasks, some folding of tea towels, occasional errands for ingredient pick-up, office/kitchen supply pick-up.
- Holding down the fort independently should both Meghan and her staff be unavailable
- Brainy and motivated enough to assist with development of online programs, eBooks and Meal Plans.
- Extra bonus- savvy with the Adobe suite of design programs including Acrobat.
Exepcted Hours Per Week: 30-40 hrs/week, Monday - Friday, 9:30pm - 5:00pm
Intern Position 2: Kitchen/Cooking Tasks:
- Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, receiving and checking orders
- Prep for classes/workshops
- Pre-make (that means cook or bake) any items needed for classes, workshops, presentations or meetings.
- Assist during workshops with serving, clean-up
- Assist during some cooking classes with instructional cooking, clean-up etc.
- Assist with recipe creation/testing
Exepcted Hours Per Week: 15 hrs/week, Mondays 2:00pm - 10:00pm, + two or three Saturday/Sunday 9:00 - 1:00 (approx- see class schedule for full weekend schedule)
Additional help may be requested for tradeshows, live events and media appearances.
Note that this is a rough schedule. Some weeks may vary with more or less classes, plus potential for private events etc.
Role For Both Positions
- An honest and genuine interest in food and nutrition
- Ability to problem solve effectively, utilizing resources, people you know, staying calm, and keeping it from Meghan as much as possible
- Fulfilling tasks in a timely manner.
- You really need to want to be here and show it with everything you do!
- Voice concerns or confusion over tasks straight away.
- Show up. Bring enthusiasm, honesty, openness and friendliness
- Ask questions, make suggestions, make it happen.
