Meghan's Scholarship - Meghan Telpner

You may already be familiar with my story. At the age of 26, after suffering with serious digestive problems, I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, an incurable auto-immune disease, and was given no hope for a sustained remission, let alone a cure. At the age of 26, a lifetime of surgery and medication just didn't seem like the best option for me. I am grateful every morning, when I wake up feeling amazing, that I made a different choice. I chose natural therapies, whole foods, yoga and major lifestyle changes that has resulted in great health. I was fortunate to have both the emotional and financial support of my family to make this choice. This is not a cheap option, and is not always available. I truly believe that we should not allow our financial situation to dictate how we wish to work with and heal from any health condition that may inhibit full healing and recovery.

For this reason, I have set up Meghan Telpner's Scholarship For Healing. We will occasionally be running our own fundraisers in addition to the ones run by other to bring funds in to this well needed bounty. Once we reach our $1,000 fundraising goal, we will award the funds to one applicant striving for health through natural means, or who is working in joining conventional treatments with natural healing. In addition to the $1,000 that can be put towards acupuncture, yoga, meditation classes, cooking classes, holistic nutrition education, nutrition consultations, the recipient will also be invited to join our Foods For Healing Workshop and a one-hour private consultation with me. I am very excited to be able to offer this and to bring awareness to the fact that we do have options in how we wish to approach any diagnosis and that despite stats on cure rates (or lack there of), the body has an amazing ability to heal, when given the tools and time to do so.

If you would like to make a donation to this scholarship fund, any amount- great or small is hugely appreciated. At this time, we are unable to offer donation/tax receipts. Cheques can be made payable to Meghan Telpner Inc.

The Small Print

Nominations for the second scholarship to be awarded closes February 13th, 2012.

Nominees must be over the age of 18. Nomination essays and all documents associated with the nominations become the property of Meghan Telpner Inc. and can be used in part or entirety on meghantelpner.com, meghantelpnerblog.com or any other affiliated social networking and marketing objectives. Nominees and recipients can choose to keep their real name private. We ask that all recipients remain in contact with a staff member of Meghan Telpner Inc. and share updates and progress. Receipts of treatments will be required to show use of funds.
