Thanks so much for poppin' in to see what's what.
What we're doing over here is the most fun nutrition has ever seen.
No one is going to play along if the game is no fun. The question is, are you ready to pick up, what I'm putting down?
I live and work in downtown Toronto, Parkdale to be precise, and kick it artsy-like in a reno'd mattress factory loft building. This is the home of the greatest health fueling party in the city, my cooking school where we teach drop-in classes, longer programs as well as Canada's only 200hr Culinary Nutrition Expert Certification Program. I own and operate this baby and have been for three years.
This is also the home of the messes we make creating inspired, simple, and awesomely delicious recipes for my well loved blog, Making Love In The Kitchen which sees over 200,000 monthly vistors. Since, I am not down with winter, I spend that chilly time of year in sunny locales leading the most nourishing and inspiring retreats ever. In December of 2012, my book, UnDiet (McClelland & Stewart / Random House) will hit the shelves.
A nutritionista was not what I dreamed of when I was a wee young little thing. Nopers. I was going to be a fashion designer so off I went to Ryerson University where I earned more than my degree in fashion. The next logical step was obviously to pack my bag and travel around East and West Africa for a while. Therein began four years of struggle with some serious digestive issues.
At the same time I was dealing with my health troubles, through a very awkward date, I landed myself my first of several jobs in advertising, where over four years in the biz, I honed my uber powered client service skills while going from doc to doc trying to sort out what was up with my health crisis.
Turns out, I had Crohn's disease, a condition I was told was incurable with my only options being surgery and meds.
Never one to play by the rules, I chose to keep my intestines intact and reclaimed my health with yoga, meditation, acupuncture, Chinese herbal remedies and nutritional modifications. Low and behold, nearly five years later, I remain 100% symptom free.
I traded in my ad exec biz casual attire for a flowery apron and went back to school to earn my formal certification in nutrition from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition.
The work I do now though is way more fun. Poke around here or a little, or even better, come play in kitchen or meet me in St. Lucia. Why not find out for yourself?
