Everybody's Doing The Luca-Motion Ice Cream

Oh my, oh my was this homemade ice cream the most amazing thing I've ever eaten in my life. Or in the top 10 for sure.

My bestest friends over at Hamilton Beach Canada sent me the sweetest of gifts and the latest was their 1½ Quart Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Maker. All this time I thought ice cream made in a blender was as good as anything else, but let me tell you- that machine did some magic to our blend of magic.

I was also surprised that there was really not much of a process involved. We blended the goods together in our blender, poured it into our ice cream maker and shazaam alakazaam, a half hour later we were ooing and aahing over the amazing ice creamy creation we had collectively created.

Now, my ice cream living bros and sistas, you know we didn't kick this ice cream dairy style. We took it up like 97 levels from any kind of nonsense Healthwashed Ice Cream and we created, maybe the most high vibe creation ever created.


It started the day before with a little fermenting of some coconut kefir. We used this in place of the milk. Though I imagine organic yogurt thinned with water would work well here too. And then instead of cream, we created a cashew cream, blending together equal parts water and cashews. We then picked our flavourings and that was that.

The best part, of course was taste testing this beloved Hamilton Beach enabled creation with my team of nutritionistas.


What I realized after we concocted and tasted is that this baby love here is actually healthier than most people's breakfasts. That made us all feel okay that we ate this at the end of our work day- just before or (in the case of Alexa), instead of dinner.

We kicked it up another notch by topping it with our fave ice cream toppings- shredded coconut, cacao nibs and goji berries. If only we hadn't eaten all the ice cream, I imagine this sweetness would have been amazing on a plate with some warm pumpkin pie.


Lucuma Motion Ice Cream

1/2 cup cashews
1/2 cup water
2 cups coconut kefir (or plain coconut milk, yogurt or your fave nut/seed milk)
1/4 cup lucuma powder
2 Tbs gogi berries
1/2 Tbs maca
2 Tbs coconut syrup

  • Blend cashews and water in a food processor until silky smooth.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.
  • Poor into ice cream maker and let it do the lucuma motion for 40 min.


Now- we dance because after you try this, everyone will be doing the Luca-Motion. Sing it Kylie!

    I love my ice cream maker too! Our favorite in the summer are peach ice cream and mango ice cream!

    This recipe looks good. can we do one with my favourite hawaiian nut, macadiamia? could also mix some chocolate in there. cdv
