French Toast

Pourquoi tout est mieux en français?

And now I will ask in English. Why is everything better in french?

Fries, bread, kisses, toast? Make'em french! (By the way, when I asked the man for words that started with french, he immediately volunteered 'maid'- I stopped asking after that).

But really? Is there anything better than french kisses and french toast??? French toast is almost like the lazy-nutritionistas from scratch pancakes. Has almost all of the delicious Sunday morning loving sweetness, without having to measure so much stuff.

What I didn't know is that French Toast is traditionally a Christmas time dessert in Portugal and Brazil and an Easter dessert in Spain. Since I don't celebrate either holiday and am not traditionally Portuguese, Spanish of Brazillian (though am often confused for being Spanish), I eat this awesome loving all year round.

Now throwing white bread into a bowl of egg and then slapping that into a hot frying pan would an unholy breakfast experience. As with all things, it's all about creating a fine balance of the most delicious and beautiful delight there was, with the most power-punched healthy amazingness.

On a rainy morning while camped out at the cottage, we were in the mood for a hearty delight. Somedays, a smoothie just doesn't cut it.

This french toast was inspired by this previous version. We considered this an upgrade. We mixed maca, cacao and cinnamon, into our egg mix and then topped the cooked delight with ground goji, flaxseeds and coconut. We then lubed the love up with some flax oil and maple syrup. Served alongside fresh fruit, I was reminded of on of our frequent fall guests at my classes. Her name is Drew and told me about her obsession with creating the perfect bite with everything on the plate.

A slice of strawberry topped this one off well! The only way this could be any better, in my opinion, is if it were topped with a massive scoop of Coconut Bliss ice cream.

If you are of the bon-animal eating foods type, and you want to know if this will work with some whipped tofu concoction, I can't tell you if this will work. Tofu in place of egg is not my speed so I have very little experience with this, but feel free to try it.

Now back in the city and longing for the lazy summer mornings of time at the cottage, I am thinking this just might be our dinner tonight. And you know what goes great with this french toast? French kisses of course!

Mwah!!!
