My Manuscript Sits Before Me and Suddenly I Hate Post It Notes

I am back from St. Lucia with no time to rest. The fun of the photoshoot has come and gone and now it is time to make nice with my computer, highlighters and team over here that will be sailing this biz ship while I hide away. My entire edited manuscript was sitting on my desk when I returned to work yesterday. In case you were wondering what a 73,000 word manuscript looks like.. well here you go.
I feel a bit like back in the day when I would talk my way into getting a job I wasn't fully qualified for. As I sit here staring at this stack of paper I wish to bits that I paid more attention in grammar class. Reviewing all the notes on all the pages, I am beginning to learn a few things.

1. Writing a book is really like being hired for a brand new job. You have to learn a whole new set of skills including the entire short-hand language my editor uses to bring up paragraphs, cut sections, add citations etc.

2. A colour coding system with a collection of  highlighters will be my saving grace and I am doing my best not to draw rainbows and flowers and aforementioned manuscript.

3. I am pretty sure my editor Bhavna has single handedly increased the stock value of post-it notes.

4. If it were possible to hate inanimate objects, I would direct all of mine to yellow post-it notes.
5. I am pretty sure there will be no greater feeling than one, by, one removing those post-it notes, highlighting changes as complete and submitting my edited manuscript in exactly 28 days time.

Wish me luck for here I go!

Here's an idea, why don't you draw your rainbows and flowers on your post it's when you've completed them and stick them around you, for a glowing garden of awesomeness and inspiration!
