Summary: Sadie Barr, a recent college graduate decided to ask a question that, for some reason, had yet to be explored: how does our metabolism respond to processed foods as compared to whole foods. The discovery, though not totally surprising, was dramatic. He research shows, without a doubt, that eating whole foods encourages thermogenesis, meaning an in increased metabolic rate, as compared to processed foods. Huh? What I mean is that processed foods are not just rich in empty calories, but they are rich in empty calories that encourage our metabolism to slow down and thus are contributing to weight gain and associated diseases.
