It’s Official: I Am Writing A Book!

You have been asking me for ages when my book was coming out. And kept saying, when the time is right.

The time my fair lady and gents is now and I have you to thank for it. So THANK YOU!

The contract has been signed and I am soon to be a published author! That's me up there dancing for joy!

As you have come to know me, you know that I don't play by the rules. I don't follow diets, my recommendations don't fall into any dietary group like vegan or veg or macro. The only rule really is to keep it light and fun.

It was this approach that you supported from the beginning- over three years ago when I began my biz and my blog. It was this approach that saw you loving to bits my first ebooks and cooking classes. And it was this approach that landed me the sweetest of dedicated, enlightened, open, intelligent and inspiring readers in the whole wide world. Every day, your comments on this blog, on Facebook and on Twitter keep me inspired to keep on breaking rules in an attempt to help all who wish, to achieve abundant health in their own lives.

It's all fine and well for me to dance in my kitchen, create recipes, write about them and host cooking classes and retreats. But without you showing up for it all, none of this could be happening.

The official announcement appeared yesterday in The Quill and Quire- a publishing newswire and it read:

Bhavna Chauhan, editorial assistant at McClelland & Stewart, has acquired World rights to The UnDiet: Break the Rules, Have Tons of Fun, and Cleanse the Clutter for Abundantly Vibrant Living by Meghan Telpner, a book  inspired by her humourous approach to nutrition on her popular blog, “Making Love in the Kitchen.” Telpner, a holistic nutritionist based in Toronto, is a contributor to a number of publications, including The National Post, The Huffington Post, Glow, Toronto Life, Ottawa Citizen, Chatelaine. She appears regularly on CTV News, The Marilyn Denis Show, and Breakfast Television. She is the director of a cooking school in Toronto. Publication is slated for Spring 2013.

How did this all happen?

Last October I stood in line freezing my petunias off for the open casting call for The Marilyn Denis Show. I got a call back a few weeks later, only to be told, I was already on their radar for the role of food and nutrition expert. My very first segment on live National Television was on January 11th, 2011 where my 10 minute cooking segment got sqeueezed down to 3 minutes. Apparently, in that time, I managed to win over the heart and appetite of one Bhavna Chauhan, a woman, who's enthusiasm and confidence in what we are creating matches and maybe surpasses my own. She has already shown up for so many classes and events, bringing friends and even her sister along.  I couldn't be more excited to call her my Editor. Wait until she tries to edit my made up words.

Soon after Bhavna. saw me on MDS, she joined one of Canada's most established  publishing house McLelland and Stewart, and started cheerleading on my behalf.

One day last spring, out of the blue, Lady B gave me a ring and told me she wanted to make me a star... or asked if I was currently working with anyone yet on the bestest seller of all time. I invited Bhavna and Liz, a sasstastic editor from M & S to  and I did my best to woo them at a Meal Prep Made Easy Class.

Once again, YOU showed up, or some of you! By sheer coincidence, or more likely aligned stars, some of my most loyal VIP guests were in attendance and it was a great night.

The next week, I was in the M & S office pitching my heart out and winning the love of a boardroom of amazing women- with the help of my sweet potato brownies. Things rolled along, an offer was made, an offer was accepted and it was with the utmost excitement that I get to thank all of you for your support that has enabled this upcoming adventure.

I am not writing a cook book- as many of you may be guessing. I am writing an all encompassing lifestyle guide that will include daily tips, transitions, an UnDiet guide to follows and of course, recipes to make it all happen. This is like one of my classes in  book format, or the most fun you've ever had getting vibrant. Same, same.

My rock star reader, as the creed says- Are you ready to UnDiet To Abundant Health? The revolution has started. You will be the leaders and cheerleaders we make bigger and louder noise. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see the changes unfold.

Now, I must run. I have some writing to do.

With gratitude, love and cartwheels of excitement,
Meghan

ps. If you want to know how I celebrated the excitement of the contract being signed, sealed and delivered last week, we had fresh pressed grape cocktails.

Fresh pressed grape juice

The UnDiet Cocktail
3 cups of grapes, juiced
1 apple, juiced
1/4 cup Kombucha
1/2 cup bubbly water

    • In a pitcher, combine fresh pressed juice with kombucha and bubbly water (or plain water)
    • Mix just enough until blended
    • Pour
    • Toast to breaking rules and UnDieting to abundant health.

Meghan, totally awesome news. I am looking forward to getting my still 'hot off the press' copy autographed during one of your wonderful workshop. I knew it was never of a case of "if" but rather "when". Glad the time has come. I have no doubt this will be a run-away bestseller! Congrats!!!!
