    You can actually grow figs here in Southern Ontario. You just have to bring the plant inside for the winter or, and I haven’t tried this yet because my plants are still too small, but you can bend it over and bury it for the winter. This is supposed to render higher yields the following season.

  2. I purchased 2 fig trees (Black Mission and Celeste) last spring for my zone 5-6 area of PA. They bore fruit the first year which was a treat beyond expectation. I planted them in extra large (patio tree) containers, with well drained soil and stones on top to keep in the moisture. They love as much sun and heat as they can get, water daily. Then in the fall, after the leaves dropped, I overwintered them in an unheated garage. I just took them out this week and they are covered with leaf buds. There really is nothing like eating a freshly picked, sun-warmed fig. Happy gardening and eating!
