How To Stop Self-Sabotage | MeghanTV

Why is that we are always our own worst enemy?

In today’s episode, I am talking about health specifically, but the same guidelines I offer can apply to so many goals and resolutions we make, and then let fall flat.

Why is is that we cartwheel through the gate with the best of intentions, and then when it gets a little hard, a little uncomfortable or a little scary, we just stop? We prevent ourselves from taking that next leap that will take us to the next level in our lives.

Much of it has to do with fear. Human beings are creatures of habit and, for the most part, we fear change. So we let our minds play all sorts of tricks on us, we come down with an epidemic case of excuse-itis, and then instead of taking it to the next level, we stop, fall short and unravel all the work we have done. This holds us back in our health goals, in our career goals, as entrepreneurs, as partners, and even as positive forces in our community.

But… have no fear! That derailing self-talk doesn’t have to be. We can conquer it.

In this episode I share:

  • What triggers our self-sabotage
  • A powerful mantra that works to get you on the path to success
  • The ’90s diet craze that is still causing a hangover today
  • A secret weapon strategy to empower you make the best choices, effortlessly
  • Why the “all things in moderation” mindset is seriously broken
  • A wickedly awesome dance break*

I really love the tip “don’t fall victim to the selective unknowing of what you know.” This puts the way my brain acts into concrete terms. I do just that! Especially when I’m at the grocery store. I am an obsessive label reader and the grocery store is kind of triggering for me. I either say “screw it” and leave with nothing after a frustrating label reading session or I buy something I know is full of crap that I shouldn’t put near my lips, never mind in my body. But I start making excuses because I’m frustrated by not finding what I want on the labels of products. I think I may have to just avoid most packaged goods from now on (or maybe the grocery all together and just buy local, at least for the summer when I know there is going to be a lot of awesome produce at the farmer’s market!)

Thanks for this video! It’s the first Meghan TV video that I’ve actually sat down to watch. I’ve been following your website and reading your book off and on for the last year, but never made time to watch a video. I think I will be watching more in the future!

I like yell really loud at people “stop calling toxins treats!” Be honest with yourself so I don’t have to yell so much.

I also like to yell at people for eating fast food. You buy into the marketing, you are stressed and tired so you eat fast food, its your best friend — which makes you stressed and tired! No brainer there, really! Grow up kids, even you 50 yr old ones.
