  1. YAY!! My hubby really loves jam-cookies … and I made a ridiculous amount (seriously 90+ jars) of concord grape jam last fall. This is a win-win!!

  2. I remember my grandmother making these cookies when I was little, can’t wait to try it out for myself!

  3. Loved the story and it hit home for me. One Thanksgiving my brother in law came over for dinner and my mother brought Lemon Squares for dessert, she was so proud of the recipe and took them often with her for occasions. He finished dinner first and she offered him one. As soon as he took his first bite I could tell something was wrong and he was trying to be polite but his chewing action came to a dead stop. She noticed as well and handed him a napkin. She as well kept her ingredients in glass jars but hers were not labeled, living alone she was one one filling them so she never bothered to label them, mine on the other hand were labels and I would tease her about it. I knew at once what had happened since I would bring a game with me to wedding showers that was always a fun time. Game was to bring with me 2 X 1 ” zip closure bags with a little bit of white powder from everthing in the kitchen labeled A thru Z and the list of what they were. At the shower pass the bags around and have everyone guess what the ingrediet is without opening the bag. Back to the Lemon Squares, her ingredients same as mine were bought in bulk from a store that offers them in clear bags, the cost is much better than at the box stores. She took one bite for herself and realized how bitter it was. She had refilled the powdered sugar jar with baking powder. I just printed out the recipe, thank you for it. She has been gone now, some 20 years. Thank you for sparking my memory of the occation. All the Best, Susan
